Guild Charter
Introduction
Guild Intro
Symbolic is a progression minded, late night raiding guild. We focus heavily on 25 man content but encourage our members to run 10 mans as well.
What Applicants Can Expect From Us
In Symbolic you will find communicative, experienced leaders, talented raiders and an overall atmosphere that fosters progression and team work. We strive to not only raid at the bleeding edge of content but to enjoy ourselves while we're at it.
What We Expect From Our Applicants and Members
All applicants looking at Symbolic as a potential home should know that we expect a lot of them. We expect them to be mature, knowledgeable, focused and prepared to not only raid with us, but to help us to improve as a guild. We expect our members to bolster our reputation and help maintain our unique raiding environment while we down the hardest content that Blizzard provides us.
Applications
What We Expect To See In The Application
We expect the application to be filled out thoroughly. This is essentially our first impression of you so the more work you put into it, the better it will reflect on you. Please make an effort to fill out every question/prompt to the best of your ability. Also, feel free to contact Magambo, Kevlar, Incarn, or Fonso in game if you would like to discuss your application, our guild or any questions you may have one-on-one.
Application Response
Expect a small delay on acceptance or rejection of your application. The delay should be no longer than four days, but the officers of Symbolic plan to discuss each applicant with one another so each opinion is taken into account before a decision is made. Thank you for your patience.
Trial Period
After your application has been accepted and you have been invited to Symbolic as a recruit, you will have three raid resets to prove yourself as a skilled player with a personality that can mesh with us and Symbolic as a whole. We value our reputation and the atmosphere of our guild so even if you are an extraordinary player, if you don't have a good attitude, don't expect to be accepted and vice versa.
Guild Conduct
Respect
We hold ourselves and our members to very high standards. We expect everyone to respect one another in both the raid and guild environment. This also extends to how Symbolic members treat other players on World of Warcraft. We would like to maintain a good reputation on Tichondrius, in World of Warcraft, and we would like to continue to have a fun, team-oriented raiding environment in guild.
Communication
The leadership of Symbolic is very open and communicative. This means that if you feel anything is wrong with the guild or you are having a problem, we expect you to come to us and help us resolve it. In return, you can be sure that we will be open with you and we will take different opinions into account. We are by no means ruling Symbolic as an iron fist, and we aren't perfect either. The more input the better!
Guild Relations
As mentioned under "Respect" we expect a certain attitude from our members. Unfortunately, Tichondrius isn't always a welcoming environment and sometimes competition breeds anger and dislike amongst guilds. We expect our members to be above this petty trolling. Ideally,we would like to have friendly relationships with every guild on Tichondrius, Horde and Alliance side. Because of this, we expect that our members act their best when confronted by other guilds or when conversing with members of other guilds. People found trolling other guilds, being petty and childish, or generally marring our reputation amongst other guilds will not be tolerated.
Ranks
- Friend: These folks are friends of our Raiders and Officers. They are in the guild because they not only have a friend in the guild but they mesh well with the overall Symbolic environment. If it is found that a Friend is hurting the reputation of Symbolic or doesn't generally mesh with other Symbolic members, they will likely be looking for another guild.
- Alts: These are alts of main raiders, friends, and recruits. Alts must be level 80 and geared or capable enough to raid current tier content.
- Recruit: Welcome to Symbolic! This is the rank for all of the new recruits of Symbolic. If your application is accepted, this will be your rank for three raid resets. If you prove yourself as a valuable asset to Symbolic, expect to become a Raider. If not, you will likely be looking for another guild.
- Apprentice: A character of this rank is a member of the guild, but not a full time raider. They have went through the recruitment process, and the leadership has deemed them to be a contributing part of our 25 man roster. The key difference between the apprentice rank and raider rank is that an apprentice is not at a level we as a guild expect from our players. It could be due to gear, abundance of that class in our roster, doubts on skill/competence, or any other circumstance that leads to question marks. If these players prove that they can improve, or holes in our main raid roster need filling, then they will be promoted to a full time raider rank.
- Raider: These people are the flesh and blood of Symbolic. Each thing that is accomplished by Symbolic is because of its Raiders and as such we expect a lot of them. These people are skilled at their classes and specs, they are people who represent the guild well, and are people that are willing to both teach and learn from others.
- Officer: One of the first things you may notice upon joining or researching Symbolic is that there is no single "Guild Master." The guild is run under a council system, which means most decisions are made in a group environment and discussed at length between Magambo, Incarn, Kevlar, and Fonso. We're pretty friendly folks too, so feel free to initiate conversation with us and maybe even befriend us!
Raids
Times
Symbolic raids on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with a second raid for Apprentices, Recruits and Alts on Mondays. Each day you can expect a raid invite between 8:00pm and 8:15pm server time. Raids will begin at 8:30pm and we expect all our raiders to come prepared to each raid. Raids will end at 11:30pm though occasionally they may go up to a half-hour late if it isn't detrimental to our raiders. Each raid earns you DKP, except for the Monday raid, which is optional but highly recommended.
How Invites Are Decided
Invites to raids are decided by skill, attendance, dkp and the gear needs of the raiders. Raiders will be invited before Recruits or Apprentices, unless those recruits or apprentices fill roles that aren't replaceable. If you do not get an invite all week to our main ICC25, expect an invite to ICC25 on Monday evenings.
Loot Distribution
Symbolic uses a DKP system for all gear except for the following:
- Mounts: Mounts will be rolled for by all eligible members of the raid that are raider rank or higher. If the officers do not believe you have had the correct attendance, performance, or conduct to be able to loot the mount, you will be unable to roll for it. Do well and you won't have to worry about this!
- Legendaries: Our Legendary items will NOT be DKP looted. Instead the officers will take all the possible recipients aside and as a group we will decide who will get the legendary item.
DKP
Symbolic uses set prices on items, which are listed as follows:
- Non-weapon or trinket: 2 dkp
- Weapons:
- 264/271 Weapon: 3/5 dkp
- 264/271 Ranged: 1/2 dkp
- Trinket: 5 dkp
- Tier Token: 3 dkp
- Heroic non-weapon or trinket: 10 dkp
- Heroic Weapons:
- 2H Weapon: 20 dkp
- 1H Weapon: 16 dkp
- Shields/Offhand: 10 dkp
- Ranged: 6 dkp
- Heroic Trinket: 20 dkp
- Heroic Tier Token: 16 dkp
- Off-spec Weapon/Tier/Trinket: 2 dkp
- Off-spec Others: 1 dkp
You can earn a maximum of 5 dkp per raid night. In order to get credited for all 5 dkp, you must be in attendance from the start of the raid night to the end of the raid night, prepared and able to raid in the spec and at the level we require. If you don't stay the entire night, you will get partial credit according to the officers' discretion. Tardiness and absence is handled in the following manner:
- Excused tardiness:
- 15-30 min late = 4 dkp
- 30 min - 1 hour late = 3 dkp
- 1 hour - 2 hours late = 2 dkp
- 2+ hour late = 0 dkp
- Unexcused tardiness:
- 15-30 min late = 3 dkp
- 30 min - 1 hour late = 1 dkp
- 1hour - 2 hours late = 0 dkp
- 2+ hours late = -5 dkp (you lose 5 dkp in addition to not earning dkp for the night)
- Absence w/o notice to an officer = -5 dkp (you lose 5 dkp in addition to not earning dkp for the night)
There is a 5% decay that is placed at the end of each raid week (Monday or Tuesday before raid). How this works is if you have 100 dkp at the end of the raid week, you will begin the next week with 95 dkp instead.
If you choose to bid on an item, you link the item you are upgrading in raid chat, and the item is giving to the bidder with the highest net dkp. For example:
Madpanda has 50 dkp, Vyndetta has 45 dkp. Heroic Deathbringer's Will drops, and they both want the item, so they link their current trinkets that they would upgrade in raid chat. Since Madpanda has more dkp than Vyndetta, he would win the item, and then be charged 20 dkp, bringing his net dkp to 30 dkp. If another item were to drop they both wanted, Vyndetta would win it because he has a higher net dkp than Madpanda after his recent purchase.
DKP is inherently unfair, but Symbolic's leadership feels that this is the best way to go about distributing loot, and it creates circulation of highly desired items to all of our players.
Raid Conduct
We expect loot to be done very fairly in this guild. If someone is bidding for their best in slot, and it is nowhere near a best in slot item for you, it is expected that you pass this item. You do not have to, but if there is a pattern of poor decisions noted, there will be measures taken to ensure that it does not continue. We also expect that there be no drama surrounding loot. A better piece of loot for one person is a benefit for the raid as a whole. If for some reason you don't get the epic or legendary you wanted, we expect you to act like an adult about it. Loot drama will NOT be tolerated.
In raids, we expect that there will be a professional, friendly environment for our raiders to enjoy and perform in. Talking during bosses is unacceptable unless you have something important to the fight in question to say. Keep Ventrilo as clear as possible during bosses. During trash, talking within reason is allowed, but do not talk over one another and if silence is asked for, please quiet down.
AFKing during raids is unacceptable. There is a break time that is usually 5 minutes long called in the middle of the raid between bosses for whatever you deem necessary. Do not come back late from breaks as making 24 people wait on you is unacceptable and you will likely lose your spot.
We also expect all raiders to come fully prepared knowing strats, having consumables, being repaired and prepared to perform. Do not hold the rest of the raid up via not educating yourself on a fight, not bringing the proper consumables or coming in with broken gear. Likewise, do not come to raids too high or drunk to perform properly in the raiding environment. We enjoy our fun too, but we also like to progress.
Guild Bank
BoE's
All "Binds on Equip" items will be sold with all proceeds going to the guild bank. Raiders are given the option to purchase these items at 75% of the current Auction House going rate. If a member is caught selling any BoE's, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken. Certain items such as Shadowmourne chest items will be handled on a case by case basis. These items may be auctioned/sold to the guild or public depending on what the officers feel is appropriate for the current situation.
Crafted Items
Crafting materials such as Primordial Saronite can be purchased from the guild bank with dkp. Just like raid drops, the person with the highest dkp gets priority for a crafted item. Dkp cost is based on the number of materials used for a recipe. They may only be purchased for main spec upgrades.
The current dkp costs for items are:
Enchanting Materials
Enchants are provided for all 277 main spec upgrades. A designated enchanter (Slynx or Incarn) will be available throughout the raid and for a limited time after the raid. Simply trade them the item you want enchanted and let them know which enchant you want.
Gems
Gems are currently not provided for by the bank.
